Robert Lyle McMurray

Robert Lyle McMurray, 78, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Dowell and Du Quoin, passed away at 10:47 A.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Robert had worked as a Carman for Illinois Central Railroad for forty-two years.  He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Belleville, IL.  He was a US Army veteran of W.W. II.
He was born May 13, 1924 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Louie and Goldie (Gross) McMurray.
He married Opal B. Daffron on October 19, 1944 at St. Louis, MO and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Belleville, two sons - Richard McMurray and wife Mary Ann of Smithton, IL, and Jerry McMurray and wife Laura of Park City, KY, grandchildren - Michelle Luces (Erick), Cheryl Kelso (Jerry), Robert McMurray (Gena), Jeffrey McMurray (Jen), and Andrew McMurray, great grandchildren - Jaqueline Poole and Corey Kelso, two brothers - Kenneth McMurray and wife Ara Lee of Valier, IL and Norman McMurray and wife Lorraine of Cherokee Village, AR, and one sister - Betty Milks of Brodhead, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter - Bonnie Jean McMurray.		
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev Ron McGrew officiating.
Friend called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Eastview Baptist Church in Belleville, IL and from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
